About Me
I started playing piano at age eight when my oldest sister went blind, Jennifer, and was given a keyboard by a family friend. She would stay in her room playing it for hours and so naturally one day I wanted to play too. We both learned to play by ear. The first song I ever learned was "Ode to Joy". I began writing my own songs soon after.
When I was five years old, our mother had my sisters and I singing in the music ministry at my local parish. When I was fourteen, our organist passed away, and so my mom brought me over to the organ and said "This is just like a keyboard; you can play this." I’ve been involved in ,music ministry ever since.
My musical influences include Nina Simone, and Carol King. I love all styles of music. A wise musician once told me that not limiting oneself to just one genre expands one's musical capability making her a better musician.
When I'm not playing music or singing, I'm spending time with friends and family or I'm involved in some kind of creative project. I cannot live without one or the other. I find everything in creation an outward thought of love and strive to see inspiration in everything I do and everyone I meet.
Music makes makes the world go round.
peace in your heart, mind and soul,
Rachael
